Vertical honeycomb for glass doors

Honeycomb blinds for sliding doors

Sliding doors are the largest area of glass in most homes, and the hardest to cover with a blind that goes up and down. Vertical honeycomb blinds draw sideways instead, stacking neatly to one side so you can walk through — with the same insulating cells as any honeycomb.

Why a vertical honeycomb

A blind that rolls or lifts from the bottom is awkward on a door — you have to raise it every time you want to walk out. A vertical honeycomb blind runs sideways on a track, so you draw it back like a curtain and the doorway is clear.

Because the fabric is pleated, it stacks into a small bundle when open, taking up less of the door than most alternatives.

Insulation on the biggest glass

Large sliding doors let a lot of heat in on a summer afternoon and a lot of warmth out on winter nights. A honeycomb blind traps air in its cells in front of the glass, which helps slow that down. How much difference it makes depends on the door, its aspect and the fit, so we do not put a number on it.

Other options for doors

Vertical honeycomb is one of several ways we cover glass doors. Sliding plantation shutters, vertical blinds, panel glide blinds and Veri Shades all suit sliding doors too, each with a different look and feel. We bring samples and talk through which suits your door and the room.

Common questions

Can honeycomb blinds go on sliding doors?

Yes — as vertical honeycomb blinds that draw sideways on a track, on ranges that make a vertical version. We confirm availability for your door.

How much room does a vertical honeycomb take when open?

The pleats stack compactly to one side. How much depends on the width of the door; we will show you at the measure.

Do they insulate like normal honeycomb blinds?

They use the same air-filled cells. How much difference they make depends on the door, its aspect and the fit.

What else works on sliding doors?

Sliding plantation shutters, vertical blinds, panel glide blinds and Veri Shades. We can compare them for your door.
