Why Western Red Cedar
Western Red Cedar has a warmth and depth of grain that other timbers do not quite match. It is also light for its size, which helps on wide windows where the blind is heavier to lift, and it is stable, so slats stay straight.
It is our premium venetian and is noticeably more expensive than standard timber. For a feature window, a study lined with books or a room full of timber, it is usually worth it.

We started as Timber Venetians and Shutters Direct, and cedar venetians have been part of the range for a long time. People still find us searching for them, which says something about how well they wear.

Why choose cedar over other timber venetians?
For the grain and warmth, and because it is light and stable. It is our premium venetian, so it costs more.
Can cedar venetians go in a bathroom?
We would not recommend it. Composite or aluminium venetians suit wet areas better.
Do you still make timber and cedar venetians?
Yes. We started as Timber Venetians and Shutters Direct, and cedar and timber venetians are still part of what we measure and install.
Is cedar available as a plantation shutter?
