Plantation shutters for bathrooms & wet areas
Privacy on the bathroom window without living in the dark. Polyresin shutters handle the steam and splashes that timber cannot, and the louvres let you keep the light while nobody sees in.

Wet areas are where we slow down.
Over a bath, beside a shower or behind a sink, the fit matters more than anywhere else in the house. We measure these ones carefully.

Why polyresin in a wet room
Bathrooms and laundries are hard on window furnishings. Steam from the shower, splashes at the vanity, humidity that sits in the room after every bath. Timber shutters move and mark, and some fabrics hold onto the damp. Polyresin is made for it: it is moisture-resistant, durable and low maintenance.
We use polyresin in every wet room of a whole-home job for that reason, even when the living areas are timber. Painted in the same white with the same louvre size, nobody can tell the difference from the hallway.
Privacy without closing the room
Frosted glass stops people looking in but it also stops you seeing out, and a blind pulled down all day turns an ensuite into a cave. Shutters give you a middle setting. Tilt the louvres upward and daylight bounces in off the ceiling while the angle blocks the view in from outside.
On a taller window the shutter can often be split, depending on the product, so the bottom half stays closed for privacy and the top half opens for light and air.
Kitchens and laundries too
The window behind the kitchen sink gets splashed and the one beside the cooktop gets grease and heat. Laundries are humid most of the time. The same reasoning applies: polyresin wipes clean and stays straight.
Fitting around baths, showers and vanities
Wet-area windows are often awkward — right above a freestanding bath, tight against a shower screen, behind a tap that a hinged panel would hit. We look at how the panel will open before we choose the frame, and a fixed or sliding panel is sometimes the better answer.

Common questions
Can plantation shutters go in a bathroom?
Yes, in polyresin. It is moisture-resistant and easy to wipe down, which is why it is our recommendation for bathrooms, ensuites, kitchens and laundries.
Are bathroom shutters waterproof?
Polyresin is moisture-resistant and handles steam and splashes well. Whether a particular range can be called waterproof depends on the supplier and product, so we will tell you exactly what the one we quote is rated for.
Can I use timber shutters in the ensuite?
We would not recommend it. Steam gets into timber over time. Polyresin painted to match looks the same from the bedroom.
Will a shutter give me enough privacy in a bathroom?
Tilting the louvres upward lets light in while blocking the view in from outside. On taller windows a split shutter can keep the bottom closed and the top open, depending on the product.
